Europe - quo vadis?

Leadership is a very rare commodity in Europe these days. Give me just one example of a visionary European leader, who has clear principles and who is willing to fight for them, even if referenda and opinion polls are against them? I am sure that such leaders are there - somewhere. But not up front. It is good to see that the two big German political parties now have new fresh leaders from the former East Germany. Perhaps that can give positive impacts from new angles.

Personally, I am sure that European citizens will welcome visionary politicians with principles. On the condition tht they are able to explain and show that the policy they are fighting for is to the benefit of the individual citizen in her or his daily life. I'm absolutely sure.

Somebody said years ago that Europe is like a bike. It has to move forward not to fall. For sure, in the day to day activities there are also today a lot of very useful and necessary progress in Europe. But we need leadership in guiding Europe into the next stage of its development.

Let us wish for such leaders as one of our Christmas presents in a few weeks time!
